Engineering
Students’ Association-Kenyatta University (ESA-KU) was formed in the year 2010-
the students then being aware of the dynamics of the engineering field and the
need for unity, locally, nationally and globally. It was noted then that
positive academic attitude, need for research and sharing of ideas could help
update engineering students to the changing technology. To date ESA is
committed to improving engineering and technology principles, academic performance
and creating proper conditions for the engineering students.
ESA-KU
is a non-political, non-profit making association and declares that no
provisions herein shall be construed to qualify, defeat or in any way contravene
the law and the engineering ethics that form the epitome and the backbone of
the prestigious engineering field.
Some of
our objectives include;
- Promote the academic welfare of its members in all possible legal ways.
- Act as a link between its members and EBK and to promote cooperation with such other professional organizations.
- Organize for forums, share and exchange of ideas, information, skills, knowledge, experience and expertise just to mention but a few.
The ESA
membership has three types of memberships; full membership, honorary membership
and associate membership all of which have been explained in the constitution. The
club has two patrons one being the Dean of the school and the other agreed upon
by the members during the first annual general meeting of the academic year
(first semester).
Currently
ESA is running very many activities in the school of engineering including the
Annual Engineering Conference, Dean’s cup soccer tournament and weekly
tutorials on various practical sectors of the vast engineering field. We take
it upon ourselves to ensure the comfort and ensure the ease of studies in
Kenyatta University for both the members and non-members in Kenyatta University
as our ultimate dream is service to the students. Our main aim and vision is to
soar the heights of engineering and transform our nation-engineers being the
leaders of transition. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of
their dreams and frankly there are no known better actualizers of these than
the engineers themselves.
Ochieng’ Tony Alvin,
Chairman ESA.
